The sun continues to shine actively: six flares of class C and higher were recorded in the first hours of today.
Of these, three flares reached a high level of M. The highest of them was rated M1.5, and the rest ranged from C3.6 to M1.4. The source of activity was area 4048. Currently, the Earth's magnetosphere is calm.
The previous day, solar activity was even higher: 15 flares occurred during the day, five of which were classified as M-class. This indicates a continuing instability in the solar atmosphere, which may affect the Earth's magnetic field.
M-class flares can cause minor radio interference and weak geomagnetic fluctuations, especially if they are directed towards our planet. More powerful X-class flares can cause magnetic storms that can affect radio communications, navigation systems, and even equipment in orbit.
