Prototype of unique laser gun against drones shown for the first time in Russia

The weapon works against UAVs at a range of up to 500 m

At the All-Russian conference "Protection of civil facilities from drone attacks" in St. Petersburg, a unique prototype of a laser gun designed to engage unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at a distance of up to 500 m was presented for the first time.

The laser gun works by physically affecting drones based on focused ytterbium laser radiation technology.

When a "birdie" is hit by a laser beam, the body is destroyed, the motors, propeller and battery are damaged, the developer company noted.

The product is part of the "Staff" project, aimed at creating a system to counter UAVs based on focused laser radiation.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev proposed to deploy laser systems to protect against UAVs.
