The "Venera-D" mission was planned to be launched into space in 2031. But the implementation of the project will most likely have to be postponed until 2034 or 2035. This was announced by the head of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Lev Zeleny.
Scientists insist on launching "Venera-D" in 2031 or 2032, in one "window" together with other missions that will be sent to Venus by our foreign colleagues. Taking into account the recent history of our previous missions, we are afraid and do not want to rush NPO Lavochkina, so the launch is likely to be shifted to 2034-2035.
"Venera-D" will allow delivering to Earth samples of the atmosphere of the hottest planet in the Solar System, where in theory there may be signs of extraterrestrial life.
The "Venera-D" project is an orbital spacecraft and a landing module for studying the atmosphere and surface of Venus. Since 2022, Russia has been working on the mission independently, previously the work was carried out in cooperation with the United States. The launch is planned to be carried out using the Angara-A5 rocket.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a probe for descending to Venus developed in Russia.
