Civil aviation in Russia has been experiencing an investment boom over the past few decades. This is extremely important for the Irkutsk region, as well as for the entire country, said the governor of the region, Igor Kobzev.
This is extremely important for the Irkutsk region, as well as for the entire country. Today, in the workshops of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, a branch of PJSC "Yakovlev", there are 20 investment projects with a total budget of over 80 billion rubles, aimed at developing production at IAZ for the mass production of the modern MC-21 passenger aircraft, which should enter mass production in the coming years.
The head of the region noted that the first prototype of the import-substituted MC-21 has been assembled. The ground testing of the aircraft's systems is expected to be completed, and preparations are underway for the start of factory flight tests.
MC-21 is a domestic project of a short- to medium-range passenger aircraft that should replace the Tu-154 and the Tu-204 family in the Russian market. It can also be an alternative to foreign-made aircraft.
Earlier www1.ru reported that ODK will retain control of the enterprise developing the PD-14 engine for the MC-21 aircraft.
