3G in Russia is "dying": telecom operators abandon outdated technology in favor of LTE

Currently, only 0.1% of devices operate on 3G

The 3G era is ending in Russia, with operators massively abandoning the technology. This was announced by Sergey Anokhin, CEO of Beeline.

The mass shutdown of 3G networks began last year. Currently, only 0.1% of devices operate on this technology without the possibility of upgrading to 4G.

The operator is now reconfiguring equipment for other frequency ranges. This phase has already been completed in Moscow and the Moscow region.

Beeline plans to completely transfer 3G networks to LTE in 15 regions of the country by the end of 2025. The transition will be partial in another 18 regions of Russia.
