SWL Special Bridge Crane for Nuclear Icebreakers Built in Leningrad Region

The crane's lifting capacity is 3.2 tons

Workers at the Vsevolozhsk Crane Plant in the Leningrad Region have developed and tested an SWL 3.2 t special bridge crane for nuclear icebreakers. The production was carried out under the technical supervision of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS).

The special bridge crane is designed to perform cargo operations and service the reactor in the central compartment of a nuclear icebreaker. The equipment is equipped with modern safety systems.

Characteristics of the SWL 3.2 t special bridge crane:

  • Lifting capacity — 3.2 t
  • Crane span — 7.35 m
  • Bridge travel — 15.4 m
  • Lifting height — 21 m

The press service of RS added that all electrical equipment installed on the crane has an IP 56 protection rating. The development of the Vsevolozhsk Crane Plant meets the stated technical characteristics.
