Potential customers for the new modernized Yak-130M combat trainer aircraft may be countries in Asia and Africa, according to Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Rosoboronexport.
He noted that the Yak-130M is a further development of the Yak-130, its modernized version.
The Yak-130M is equipped with an active phased array radar (AESA), an expanded range of weapons, and the latest onboard defense system. It meets modern requirements for both combat trainers and light combat aircraft. Its potential customers are mainly countries in Asia and Africa that already operate Russian aircraft.
Mikheev noted that the production capacities of Rostec and the United Aircraft Corporation are capable of meeting the demand for machines in both the domestic and export markets.
The modernized systems of the Yak-130M include the BRLS-130R airborne radar station, the President-S130 onboard defense system, the SOLT-130K optoelectronic laser thermal imaging system, and the KSS-130 communication system. The Yak-130M is designed for a maximum takeoff weight of 10,290 kg and can carry a combat load of up to 2,500 kg.
The updated aircraft is equipped with two AI-222-25 turbofan engines, each developing a maximum thrust of 2500 kgf and improving the aircraft's flight characteristics. In addition, engineers have installed 4 more containers to carry up to 16 bombs weighing 100 kg.
