After receiving the Russian "Oreshnik" medium-range missile system, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, plans to deploy it on the territory of the country closer to Smolensk. The leader of the republic stated this at a press conference in Minsk.
There, closer to Smolensk. That's what I dream of. And then we'll see. A certain distance is needed. It's bad when your targets are very close. But when they are very far away, they may not carry a smaller load.
Lukashenko has already asked his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to deploy the Oreshnik missile system in the republic. This became known after the meeting of the Supreme State Council of Belarus on December 6 in Minsk. Putin then noted thatdeliveries of the system may occur in the second half of 2025.
According to the information portal "Explain.rf",the maximum range of "Oreshnik" is 5,500 km, it can carry a warhead weighing up to 1.5 tons and reach speeds of up to 10 Mach (about 12.4 thousand km/h). Putin stressed that none of the existing anti-missile systemsis capable of shooting down "Oreshnik".
