The crew of the deep-sea rescue vehicle "AS-40" (project 18271) of the Pacific Fleet assisted a submarine lying on the ground. The exercises took place in the Peter the Great Bay.
The deep-sea vehicle was launched from the rescue ship "Igor Belousov". At a depth of 60 meters, the crew of «AS-40» was looking for a stand-mockup simulating a submarine.
The operators of "AS-40" inspected the "emergency" submarine, and then docked with the coaming platform (a special device on the hull of the submarine in the area of the exit lock chambers) to ventilate the submarine's compartments and provide power.
The maneuvers ended after communication was established between the distressed submarine and the rescue ship "Igor Belousov".
