The Central Research Institute for Precision Machine Engineering (JSC TsNIITOCHMASH, part of the Kalashnikov concern) fully fulfilled its obligations under state contracts for the supply of 9-mm pistol cartridges of SP10 and SP11 indexes in 2024.
SP10 caliber 9x21-mm is distinguished by greater armor penetration and accuracy of fire, in terms of these technical parameters, the cartridge surpasses its competitors. The ammunition is an armor-piercing bullet with a steel heat-strengthened core. SP10 is used when firing from weapons 6P53, SR1M, SR2M, 6P72, 6P72-1, developed by TsNIITOCHMASH.
The cartridge is designed to engage enemy personnel without personal protective equipment (PPE) at a range of up to 100 m, as well as in class II PPE at a range of up to 50 m. The cartridge is capable of penetrating a 5 mm thick steel sheet at a distance of 40 m.

The SP11 9 mm pistol cartridge with a lead core bullet was developed as a cheap analogue of the SP10 cartridge. The ammunition has a lower chance of bullet ricochet and is suitable for practicing shooting skills in shooting ranges.
The design of the SP11 cartridge bullet consists of a bimetallic jacket with a lead core. It is used in weapons 6P53, 6P72, 6P72-1, SR1M, SR2M, also created at TsNIITOCHMASH. The SP11 cartridge can engage enemy personnel unprotected by PPE at a range of up to 100 m.

Both cartridges were developed at TsNIITOCHMASH. The SP10 cartridge was adopted by Russian special forces in 1996, and the SP11 cartridge in 1997.
