«ЭРА-ГЛОНАСС» с 1 января 2025 года берёт под контроль всю лесную технику России

Access devices to the system are now required for any forest user, even if they are removing timber for personal use

From the beginning of 2025 in Russia, any equipment used in the forest must be equipped with an access device to the «ERA-GLONASS» system. The requirements apply to forest fire equipment, as well as any transport used for harvesting and transporting timber.

The first 600 vehicles under supervision have already completed a test period for data transmission to the Federal State Information System of the Forest Complex in three regions of the country. The Federal Forestry Agency explained why this practice has now spread to all of Russia.

This information [about the location of equipment] needs to be transmitted, firstly, so that in the event of emergencies, this or that equipment can be involved in the elimination of emergencies. It is also very important for tracking supply chains when transporting timber from the forest, then to the place of timber storage, and then to the forest processing infrastructure facility. So that the entire track can be traced from the moment of timber harvesting to its processing.
Pyotr Mikka, Head of the Department for the Development of Information Systems and the State Forest Register of the Federal Forestry Agency

The Federal Forestry Agency reminds that even if a Russian citizen removes timber from the forest for their own needs or does so at retail, the «ERA-GLONASS» system will still be required on their transport from January 1, 2025. However, in these two cases, it is possible to do without оформление ЭСД.

To comply with the requirements of the legislation, companies and individuals involved in working in forests will need to apply to JSC «GLONASS» and conclude a communication supply agreement. Then they will receive SIM cards and will have to register on the «GLONASS» portal, and then enter the Federal State Information System of the Forest Complex and confirm the use of equipment in logging or fire extinguishing.

If the forest user's machines are already connected to the «ERA-GLONASS» system, then it is necessary to check whether its connection is suitable according to the protocols for forestry equipment or not. The requirements for signal transmission must be observed: a signal every 15 minutes, every 5 kilometers of the way, every two hours when the vehicle stops, and a signal is also given when the vehicle deviates by 45 degrees. If there is no network in some area, the equipment records the track, and when communication appears, it will transmit the information to the system on the server.
