On December 2, the Russian Ministry of Defense presented for the first time footage of the hypersonic ship-based missile «Zircon» during exercises. This powerful ammunition is capable of tearing most warships in half, noted the American издание Military Watch Magazine.
Journalists recalled that the missile was presented in 2018. It is designed to destroy enemy ships, but is also capable of hitting ground targets.
It combines a long range of 1000 kilometers with a speed of Mach 9, the kinetic energy of which is believed to be capable of tearing most warships in half.
The publication added that the combination of speed, maneuverability and low-altitude final stage makes the «Zircon» virtually impossible to intercept with existing air defense systems.
