A new road sign "Smokey and leave" has been installed near one of the schools in Voronezh as part of an experiment. It was created by designer Artemy Lebedev to replace the "Drop off and leave" sign.
The main goal is to ensure that parents who bring their children to school do not leave the car on the roadway, creating inconvenience for other drivers, but drop off the child and leave. With the help of the new sign, they are reminded that there is no need to accompany children to the entrance, there is only time to drop them off and kiss them goodbye.
According to the press service of the Voronezh mayor's office, the initiative was carefully considered by the city administration and agreed with the State Automobile Inspectorate.
This sign was put up to attract more attention to the fact that new road signs prohibiting parking with additional information have been installed there. Previously, there was just a parking pocket, and everyone parked chaotically.
The authorities emphasized that the sidewalk near the sign will be separated from the roadway by a special pedestrian fence.
This is the first time such a sign has been installed in Voronezh. If the experiment is successful, similar signs may appear near other educational institutions.
From January 1, 2025, fines for certain traffic violations may increase in Russia. In particular, sanctions for not wearing a seat belt will increase from 1,000 to 1,500 rubles.
