«Мегафон» отменит роуминг в Крыму по предписанию ФАС

The company "Megafon" has complied with the order of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia to eliminate the additional surcharge on communication services in the regions of Sevastopol and Crimea. Until February 28, 2025, "Megafon" undertakes to cancel roaming in these areas.

In October, the FAS ordered operators "Megafon" and MTS" to stop charging customers extra fees in Crimea.

The company "Megafon" submitted a letter on the execution of the order to abolish the surcharge for using communication services in Crimea and Sevastopol. The mobile operator will cancel roaming no later than February 28, 2025.  During their stay in Sevastopol and the Republic of Crimea, subscribers' gigabytes, SMS, and minutes will be  charged according to standard conditions or deducted from the tariff plan package.

The press service of "Megafon" noted that the cost of communication for subscribers in Crimea depends on the cost of services of local operators.

The company explained that a large amount of preparatory work is required to cancel roaming. This includes changes to IT systems, their subsequent testing, and implementation into operation.
