The Chinese Chengdu J-20 and the Russian Su-57 are two of the most advanced fighters of the 21st century, demonstrating the technological prowess of China and Russia in military aviation. Both aircraft are designed to dominate in aerial combat, according to Bulgarian Military.
The developers of the J-20 emphasized speed and evasion from enemy radars, while the Russian Su-57 is more maneuverable.
Thanks to radio-absorbing materials and a special design, the Chinese fighter has received a stealth function. The Russian aircraft is also made using composite materials.
The J-20 has a long, narrow fuselage optimized to reduce its radar signature. The Su-57 has a more aggressive design with wide aerodynamic surfaces.
Among the advantages of the J-20, Bulgarian Military journalists cited an advanced guidance system and a powerful radar. This allows detecting enemy aircraft at a considerable distance.
The Su-57 has sensors all over the fuselage and wing roots that alert the pilot to what is happening in the airspace.
According to the authors of Bulgarian Military, the J-20 is an important asset for the Chinese Air Force. The Russian Aerospace Forces are also betting on the Su-57.
