The first combat icebreaker "Ivan Papanin" of Project 23550 (code "Arktika") is scheduled to be handed over to the Navy in the summer of 2025. The ship was built at the "Admiralty Shipyards".

The transfer of "Ivan Papanin" to the fleet is scheduled for the summer of next year. Before that, it will have to undergo ice tests in the Franz Josef Land archipelago, and the tests will take at least three months.

Project 23550 patrol ships are capable of overcoming ice up to 1.7 meters thick. In the version of ships for the Russian Navy, it is assumed that the ship's armament will include a 76.2-mm artillery mount.

It is possible to place eight Kalibr-K cruise missiles and / or Uran anti-ship missiles in two container launchers. The icebreaker is also capable of carrying a helicopter.
