A prototype of a payment terminal based on the "Aurora" operating system was presented for the first time at the Finopolis 2024 forum. The development and promotion of this Russian mobile operating system is handled by the company "Open Mobile Platform."
According to the company, the terminal on "Aurora" has attracted the attention of several major banks. This is due to the fact that the use of domestic operating systems in this area ensures "reliability and security of financial transactions for citizens."
The payment terminal could become an alternative to devices with the Android operating system. In addition, it can be used to implement biometric authentication technology when making payments.
Earlier, the developers of the Russian operating system "Aurora started creating a mobile browser, which will be created based on the Chromium code. Currently, the system uses the Firefox browser, which does not provide effective operation of web applications. The cost of developing a new browser is estimated at approximately 15–20 million rubles.
In addition, it became known that Russia is preparing to release five more devices on "Aurora". We are talking about laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
