В Новгороде разработали технологию для сканирования качества дорог при помощи лазера

The new method allows assessing differences, defects, and asphalt thickness

An innovative method for assessing the condition of the road surface has been created at the Yaroslav the Wise Novgorod State University (NovSU). This was announced by Evgeny Lukashik, Head of the Laboratory of Unmanned Systems and Digital Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of NovSU.

The technology is based on laser scanning.

Thanks to it, it is possible to check the accuracy of measuring the thickness of asphalt pavement and other road surface indicators. It also allows you to obtain high-precision data on the terrain, including coordinates, elevation marks on objects located within the boundaries of the surveyed area.
Evgeny Lukashik, Head of the Laboratory of Unmanned Systems and Digital Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of NovSU

Aerial laser scanning was carried out before and after asphalt laying. Scientists received point clouds from the lidar (laser scanner). This made it possible to assess the quality of asphalt (thickness, defects, differences).

The radiation frequency is very high, so the result is a dense cloud of points that characterizes the shape and size of objects. At the moment, the participants are satisfied with the results.
Evgeny Lukashik, Head of the Laboratory of Unmanned Systems and Digital Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of NovSU

In the near future, developers plan to use aerial laser scanning with the help of drones in monitoring the condition of high-voltage power lines.

Earlier www1.ru reported that in Russia created a technology for assessing the quality of asphalt.
