The Indian Army has unveiled the first fully modernized T-90 Bhishma MK-3 tank. The combat vehicle features increased power and mobility, according to Defense Post.

According to an Indian official, the base T-90 "tank was dismantled to the last nut, to the last bolt" to inspect and test each component. The combat vehicle was modernized at a repair facility in the suburbs of New Delhi.

Among the improvements implemented is the integration of a new guidance system that allows the tank to accurately identify, track and engage targets at various distances and in all conditions. In addition, the modernized T-90 has become more survivable.

Currently, India has about 1,300 T-90 Bhishma tanks in service. They are expected to be modernized in batches.

T-90 is the main Russian battle tank. The Bhishma version belongs to the class of 50-ton tanks. The combat vehicle is armed with a 125-mm gun, a 7.62-mm coaxial machine gun, and a remotely controlled 7.62-mm anti-aircraft gun. Thanks to modern thermal imagers, the tank can detect targets at a distance of up to 8 km both day and night. About 83% of Bhishma components are produced in India.
