In 2024, the Number of Attacks on Users in Russia Using Stealer Programs Increased by 14%

At a press conference, Igor Kuznetsov, head of Kaspersky GReAT, reported that from January to September 2024, every second Russian (56%) faced some kind of cyberattack. The main goal of attackers is to steal passwords, personal data, and other information, with spyware being the main tool for this. In 2024, the number of Russians attacked with such software increased by 13%.

In addition, the number of users attacked by stealer programs, which are used to steal logins and passwords, increased by 14%. The most significant growth was recorded in the mobile segment: the number of mobile cyberattacks increased by 1.5 times.

Every day, Kaspersky detects about 411 thousand malicious objects, which is 8 thousand more than last year. In 2023, the company recorded more than 6 billion different cyberattacks, blocked over 106 million malicious links, and helped more than 325 thousand users avoid theft of funds using malicious programs.
