In Krasnodar Krai and Crimea, significant problems with mobile internet have arisen during the peak tourist season, varying in nature depending on the region.
In Crimea, according to a study by Vigo, users have encountered a high level of data packet loss. This may indicate problems with communication transport networks — communication lines between base stations and the operator's network core. The average packet loss rate in Crimean resorts in the summer reached up to 20%, and in some places, such as Alushta and Saki, even 30% and 34%. This suggests that the infrastructure on the peninsula may be overloaded or worn out.
In Krasnodar Krai, mobile internet problems are more related to the capacity of cellular networks. The largest increase in load was recorded in Olginka, where user activity increased by 374% compared to the low season. In this region, data packet loss was significantly lower, about 2%, indicating that internet problems are more related to insufficient network bandwidth than to technical equipment malfunctions.
If these problems are not resolved, it may affect the quality of service for tourists and local residents, which in turn may affect the reputation of resorts and telecom operators.
