Поможет в поиске людей по заданным параметрам: в Санкт-Петербурге создали беспилотник с «компьютерным зрением»

Special software automates the process of finding specified objects

A compact drone with "computer vision" has been created at the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University (SPbGETU) "LETI". This was reported by the university's press service.

The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is designed for search and rescue operations. It will automate the process and find people based on specified parameters.

For each specific task, it will be possible to add additional search criteria. For example, if the task is to find a person in a red jacket in a snowy area, then a red color criterion will be added to the basic firmware, which is trained to search for a person. This will narrow down the search variations and refine the criteria.

The developers noted that drones are already used in search operations. However, UAV operators still require a lot of time to monitor all video recordings and detect the necessary objects.

The created prototype drone will be equipped with a video camera. The device will allow you to find the desired object with a minimum number of errors.

In the future, such a drone with machine vision will be able to perform functions in various fields, that is, it is not only search and rescue operations, but also, for example, scanning power lines for breaks, monitoring and protecting a designated area, and so on.

It is also planned to create software for all types of UAVs. It will allow you to determine a specified object from the drone's flight altitude.

Earlier www1.ru reported that in Russia they created a hardware and software complex for drones.
