A Russian Be-200 amphibious aircraft is involved in extinguishing forest fires in southern Turkey.
Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı said that a leased Russian Be-200 is taking part in the fight against five natural fires in the provinces of Izmir, Aydın, Muğla, Manisa and Bolu.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan also sent a Russian Be-200ChS to help Turkey. The plane has already landed in Izmir and started fighting fires.
The Be-200 is the largest modern amphibious aircraft with jet engines. It is capable of taking off not only from land airfields, but also from water surfaces. Equipped with powerful D-436TD engines located above the wing, the aircraft can reach speeds of 710 km/h. The aircraft is widely used to fight forest fires due to its outstanding characteristics.
