The start of production of Russian Angara launch vehicles was announced at the Army-2024 forum by Alexey Varochko, General Director of the M. V. Khrunichev State Space Research and Production Center.
As Varochko noted in an interview with TASS news agency, in 2024, the Omsk NPP Polyot (regional branch of the M. V. Khrunichev State Space Research and Production Center) has already completed the production of a number of products under a state contract with the customer.
Today we can say that serial production of Angara rockets has begun at our Omsk branch.
Earlier in February, the head of Roscosmos State Corporation, Yuri Borisov, stated that Polyot will reach its maximum design capacity in 1.5 years. They will be able to produce up to eight heavy Angara A-5 launch vehicles per year, plus light Angara-1.2 rockets.
The first Russian heavy rocket Angara A-5 launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome on April 11. It weighs 761 tons, the Orion upper stage weighs 22.1 tons, and the payload that can be put into near-Earth orbit thanks to this rocket is 24-24.5 tons.
For the Angara family, a separate launch complex was built from scratch in five years at Vostochny. These heavy rockets, among other things, are tasked with transporting modules of the Russian Orbital Station into orbit and launching manned spacecraft to it.
