The Russian R-330M1P Diabazol electronic warfare system and the R-330Zh Zhitel jamming station suppressed the GPS correction radio navigation channels of the JDAM-ER glide bomb, according to military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
It is quite obvious that the inertial navigation module in this case also malfunctioned, and the JDAM-ER's entry at a large angle of attack led to the product stalling and, probably, entering a flat spin.
R-330Zh Zhitel is an automated jamming station created by specialists from JSC NVP Protek.
Features of the R-330Zh Zhitel system:
- frequency range: during radio reconnaissance — 100…2000 MHz; during radio suppression — 800…960; 1227.6; 1575.42; 1500…1700 and 1700…1900 MHz
- frequency range scanning speed: in detection mode — at least 800 MHz/s, in direction finding mode — at least 400 MHz/s
- suppression range of consumer equipment installed on aircraft — at least 50 km
The Diabazol EW system was also developed at JSC NVP Protek. It includes the R-330KMA control point and the R-330Zh Zhitel automated jamming station. The system operates in the range of 100..2000 MHz.
