Тринадцатый корабль противоминной обороны проекта «Александрит» заложили на Неве

The keel-laying ceremony for the mine countermeasures ship "Viktor Korner" of Project 12700 took place at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant

The solemn keel-laying ceremony for the mine countermeasures ship "Viktor Korner" took place at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant (part of JSC "USC") in St. Petersburg. It became the thirteenth minesweeper of Project 12700 (code "Alexandrite"). The project was developed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau.

The main distinguishing feature of Project 12700 ships is the fiberglass hull, made by vacuum infusion. This material significantly reduces the weight of the structure and reduces the magnetic field, which is critical for mine-sweeping operations. The hull length is 62 meters.

The minesweepers are equipped with advanced mine countermeasures equipment, including sonar stations located both on the ship itself and on remotely controlled and autonomous underwater vehicles. High maneuverability is achieved through an effective set of thrusters.

Historical and technical significance

Named after Hero of the Soviet Union Viktor Dmitrievich Korner, the ship continues the tradition of naming ships after prominent figures who participated in the Great Patriotic War.

The armament of the minesweepers includes a six-barreled AK-306 artillery mount with a caliber of 30 mm, a naval pedestal machine gun mount with a caliber of 14.5 mm, and eight portable anti-aircraft missile systems. It is also possible to install two 12.7-mm Kord machine guns.

The ship's displacement is 890 tons, and the maximum speed is 16.5 knots. The crew consists of more than 40 people.

To date, eight ships of Project 12700 are already serving in the Russian Navy. The ninth minesweeper "Afanasy Ivannikov" is being prepared for launching, and the tenth, eleventh and twelfth are at various stages of construction.
