Quarry dump trucks running on hydrogen fuel will be tested at industrial facilities in the Sakhalin Region. An agreement on the project implementation was signed by New Production Technologies JSC, Rusatom Overseas JSC, Belaz OJSC, and the government of the Sakhalin Region.
The project includes joint research and the development of mechanisms for introducing equipment that runs on environmentally friendly fuel.
This will give our science and industry practical experience in working with powerful heavy equipment and will promote our products on the market, including in other regions of the country.
Anton Moskvin, Head of Hydrogen Energy at Rusatom Overseas JSC, noted that hydrogen technologies are in demand in the transport sector in Sakhalin.
Together with our partners, we plan to create optimal conditions for the implementation of a pilot project for the trial operation and refinement of experimental equipment for the production of hydrogen and refueling of transport equipment with hydrogen fuel, which emits only distilled water instead of exhaust gases, which is neutral to the environment.
It is worth noting that earlier the Governor of the Sakhalin Region, Valery Limarenko, reported that the first hydrogen test site in Russia had started operating in Sakhalin. It will be used to develop experience in the production of hydrogen fuel and its application.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a sample hydrogen-fueled train will appear in Russia in 2025.
