"RT-Iridium" of the Rostec State Corporation showcased "Iridium" at INNOPROM: an updated domestic virtualization system with stabilized operation for detecting failures and loss of communication. It is gradually replacing the American VMware system in the Russian market.
The "Iridium" virtualization platform was created without the use of open source code. This makes it possible to circumvent sanction risks, neutralize dependence on foreign programmers, and implement technical support for the product by a Russian development team. It can be used to create a high-load virtual infrastructure with the ability to manage millions of virtual objects in a controlled zone.
Our system has an average of 18% faster access speed to the disk subsystem of virtual machines than VMware. The Russian platform is the only one in the world with distributed registries, its own orchestration system, and unlimited scalability. We have also implemented virtual machine migration functions between storage devices, which simplifies resource management and optimally distributes the load.
In the modernized "Iridium" system:
- host and virtual machine monitoring with Zabbix 6.0/ is integrated, and now there is no need to install a Zabbix agent on the server;
- continuous monitoring of processor and PCI device temperatures is included;
- power consumption monitoring is included.
The developers note that "Iridium" has a wide range of applications:
- in the B2G and B2B segments for geoinformation systems up to the first protection class inclusive and personal data information systems up to the first level inclusive;
- for automated process control systems up to the first protection class inclusive;
- in critical information infrastructure facilities up to the first category inclusive.
The company plans to occupy about 80% of the Russian virtualization systems market in the next five years. The solution has already been entered into the Unified Register of Russian Software.
