Specialists from the Atommash plant in Volgodonsk (part of the Rosatom Engineering Division) have shipped a 62-ton sulfur vapor coagulator to the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant (GPP). The oversized apparatus, with a diameter of over 7 m, is designed to separate sulfur from gas.
Atommash has all the necessary competencies for the manufacture and supply of equipment for the oil and gas chemical industry.
According to him, the plant's employees have extensive experience to ensure the country's technological sovereignty in key areas.
The coagulator is a large vessel operating under pressure. Sulfur-containing gas, heated to 240° C, is separated into fractions. The purified gas exits through the upper nozzle, and liquid sulfur is discharged through the side nozzles.
Sulfur is used, among other things, for the vulcanization of rubber, as a fungicide in agriculture, and colloidal sulfur as a medicinal drug. It is also used in other industries.
