The former Volkswagen plant in Kaluga will assemble Chery cars. This opinion is held by experts in the automotive industry after a meeting between the regional governor, Vladislav Shapsha, and representatives of the Chinese company. Insiders reported on the negotiations.
The trip turned out to be quick and rushed, they even met with a Chery representative literally on the go, "in the field."
In his opinion, this meeting shows that the assembly of crossovers and sedans of this particular Chinese company will be established at the plant in Kaluga. A new company, AGK, has already been created for this purpose. A record of it appeared in the register of legal entities.
The restart of the enterprise is scheduled for August. The editor-in-chief of the magazine "Behind the Wheel", Maxim Kadakov, is convinced that cars at the enterprise will be assembled by large-unit method, receiving parts from China.
