Russian military personnel are receiving T-62M tanks retrofitted with anti-cumulative "visors." The equipment received additional metal-ceramic armor modules for passive protection of the frontal armor plates of the turret, which are called "Ilyich's eyebrows." They increase the protection against cumulative projectiles up to 450 mm and against armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot projectiles (APFSDS) — up to 320 mm, military expert Evgeny Damantsev specified.
The main tactical and technical feature of these vehicles is still the ability to integrate 9M117M1-2 "Arkan" anti-tank guided missiles into the ammunition load of 9K116-2 "Sheksna" complexes from the Tula Instrument Design Bureau with a firing range of up to 5500 - 6000 m when equipped with 1-PN96MT-02 gunner sights in the daytime, and up to 2200 - 2700 m at night.
The armor penetration of the tandem cumulative warhead of the 9M117M1-2 ATGM reaches 750 mm behind dynamic protection and 800 mm without it.
The excellent ballistic qualities and muzzle energy of the 115-mm "Molot" gun provide the 3BM23 armor-piercing discarding sabot projectiles with an initial flight speed of about 1615 m/s, a direct shot range against a target 2.7 m high of about 1900 - 2000 m, and an armor penetration of an armor plate with a physical dimension of 350 mm at an angle of 0 degrees to the normal.
The firing range of high-explosive fragmentation projectiles ZOF27 with the help of an angular level or third-party ballistic calculator programs can reach 5800 m in the "roaming" gun mode.
The modernized T-62M model of 2021 has specialized telescopic towers with gyro-stabilized multi-spectral turret complexes for optoelectronic reconnaissance on difficult terrain. Thanks to this, they can be used in the mode of a combat reconnaissance and patrol vehicle.
Earlier, a Russian serviceman told how they repair engines of large military equipment. If the engine blocks are not damaged, the repair company will fix them without contacting the factories.
