The nuclear icebreaker "Lenin," the world's first vessel with a nuclear power plant and the only federal cultural heritage site in the city of Murmansk, will be sent for repairs. The icebreaker will be towed from its berth at the Marine Station to the PD-3 floating dock by tugs.
Every 10 years, the icebreaker must undergo inspection for suitability according to the requirements of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. Prior to this, the icebreaker "Lenin" was in dock in 2013.
Chief Engineer of FSUE Atomflot, Vladimir Kondratyev, said that the inspection and repair work were postponed in 2023.
We are now going to paint the underwater and above-water parts of the hull, as well as the icebreaker's wheelhouse. In addition, the hull tanks and underwater fittings will be inspected.
According to the press service of Atomflot, the work is scheduled from June 15 to July 25. During this period, the icebreaker "Lenin" will be closed for tours.
