Russia has begun developing a thermal imaging system to repel attacks by unmanned surface vehicles (USV) by ships of the Black Sea Fleet (BSF of Russia). This was announced by Denis Oslomenko, General Director of the "Laboratory PPSh" company.

There is a problem with the lack of thermal imaging equipment among the fighters, because the main attacks by USVs are carried out at night.

According to Oslomenko, specialists are adapting thermal imaging sights and sighting systems for the modernized Kalashnikov machine gun (PKM), the "Kord" machine gun, and other small arms. These devices will be able to detect USVs at a distance of 1 km.

Oslomenko added that a thermal imaging binocular will be installed on the upper deck of the ship to effectively repel USV attacks. The watch officer will be able to coordinate the actions of fighters with machine guns. The developments are being carried out in cooperation with representatives of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Soviet DShK machine guns have been equipped with thermal imagers to combat unmanned boats.
