A motorized rifle unit of the Central Military District (CMD), stationed in the Orenburg region, has received a reinforcement of modernized T-72B3M tanks from Uralvagonzavod.
According to IA "TASS", citing the press service of the Central Military District, the exact number of tanks is not specified. However, it is known that during the modernization, in addition to the "Relikt" dynamic protection, which has been installed on the T-72B3M since July 2023, the tanks received more advanced fire control and aiming systems. These tanks began to be tested in early 2024. According to the Ministry of Defense, the system updates include, in particular, a sight with a laser rangefinder and an anti-tank missile control system.
A batch of more than ten modernized tanks with high firepower, maneuverability and reliable protection increases the mobility of motorized rifle units and improves the efficiency of tasks as intended.
In 2023, the Ministry of Defense patented a T-72B3M tank sample with a new Arena-M complex capable of repelling anti-tank weapons of a hypothetical enemy. "Arena-M" can protect the tank from grenades, guided missiles and artillery cumulative projectiles.
