«Росатом» разработает универсальную платформу для электромобилей

It will be presented in two to three years, it will simplify the creation of electric vehicles

The head of "Rosatom", Alexey Likhachev, said that the state corporation is actively working on a platform for electric vehicles, consisting of an engine, a charger and a control system. According to the head of the corporation, it is planned to be presented in two to three years. According to the idea, the platform will be suitable for all electric vehicle manufacturers and will significantly simplify the creation of electric transport.

We want to unify the platform, which includes a charger, an engine and a control system, into a product consumed by almost all "motorists" [carmakers - ed.]. They really need the so-called trolley, which they will then turn into an automotive gadget.
Alexey Likhachev in a comment to RBC

If the development suits automakers, then the country will have mass production of such a platform. Likhachev explained that the state corporation will work on the chassis, the charging unit, and the electric motor, but will not touch the design.

It should be reminded that "Rosatom" has already developed the first generation electric drive: a gearbox, an electric motor and an inverter in a single housing with a cooling system. It will be used in the developed electric vehicle platform.

Battery Production Plant and "Atom" Electric Vehicle

"Rosatom"'s plans for creating electric vehicles are grandiose. Since 2022, "Renera", which is part of the state corporation, is building a plant in the Kaliningrad region for the production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. It should start operating in 2025. The production volume at the first stage is 50 thousand batteries per year. The design capacity is 130 thousand per year.

In addition, "Rosatom" intends to help KAMAZ in creating the "Atom" electric vehicle. "Renera" bought shares of the "Kama" startup for 6.2 billion rubles, founded by the general director of KAMAZ Sergey Kogogin and businessman Ruben Vardanyan. The startup is developing this electric vehicle.
