Росэлектроника объяснила, почему США отстают от России в освоении Арктики

Specialists from the NII of Television Started Testing the Arctic Weather Monitoring Complex

Russia is at least 10 years ahead of the US in the development of the Arctic, which is confirmed by Western analysts. This is due to the introduction of the latest technologies, including the Arctic weather monitoring complex, the press service of Ruselectronics reported.

Arctic weather monitoring complex

Specialists from the NII of Television, which is part of Ruselectronics, have already begun testing the complex. Outwardly, it resembles a ball standing on a pedestal, inside which there is an antenna with a reflector diameter of 1.5 m. Thanks to this protection, it is able to work even in extreme conditions.

The holding explained that the Arctic complex supports more than 15 series of spacecraft (3 satellites in each series). It is capable of collecting up to 1 terabyte of data per day.

Operating conditions:

  • Withstands wind up to 60 m/s
  • Operates at temperatures from -60 to +60 degrees

From the receiver, the data is redirected to a workstation, which is already processed by specialists from the NII of Television.

Earlier, the head of the analytical center Strider Technologies Eric Levesque admitted that the United States is unlikely to catch up with Russia in the development of the Arctic region, since this has never been a priority for the authorities.

Participants of the international research project INTERACT admitted that without data from Russia, which they do not receive due to sanctions, it is impossible to create reliable climate models.
