Russia and Belarus are developing joint aircraft production. Work on the first major project is already underway - this is the future 19-seat aircraft from the Belarusian JSC "558th Aviation Repair Plant" and the Russian JSC "Ural Civil Aviation Plant".
It is known that the countries are engaged in R&D and experimental design work together, and they finance them 50/50. The twin-engine 19-seat aircraft will be produced on Belarusian soil - in Baranovichi at the "558th Aviation Repair Plant". What it will be called has not yet been specified.
As the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Petr Parkhomchik, said in the "Main Air" program on the Belarus 1 TV channel, the Belarusian side will have to build 20 thousand square meters of additional production space and purchase about a hundred units of highly complex equipment, and this work is actively underway. They hope to finish them ahead of schedule - there is already an order for the aircraft, they are very much awaited.
We must produce the first two aircraft by 2026. And it is very important that we already have a firm order today, that is, the minimum number of aircraft that we will have to produce by 2030 is 85-100 pieces. If we successfully complete the tasks, there may be more.
Earlier, UZGA informed that the joint aircraft will replace the Czech L-410 turboprops, which were frozen in production on Russian territory due to sanctions. It is assumed that the power plant of the new aircraft will use the VK-800 engine, and the onboard equipment will be a complex developed by KRET in 2019.
