From January to September 2023, 29.6 million tires were produced in Russia. This is 13.3% less than in the same period last year, which is due to the sanctions policy and the departure of foreign companies from the market.
However, experts from the "Honest Sign" system operators note the recovery in production volumes. In addition, most of the factories that previously belonged to major Western players have adapted to the new realities.
It is known that the Nokian Tyres enterprise is now owned by Tatneft, which produces tires under the Ikon Tyres brand. The Continental and Cordiant factories were acquired by S8 Industrial Assets. Mostly tires for passenger cars are produced here.
Analysts also note the growth in tire exports. During the specified period, almost 23 million tires were exported to foreign markets, most of which were for passenger cars. We are mainly talking about non-studded tires for the winter.
During this autumn-winter period, Russians prefer to "re-shoe" their cars with studded tires of domestic production. From October to the beginning of November, they accounted for up to 70% of the total volume of tire sales.
It was previously reported that in October tires in Russia rose in price by up to 10%. Most often, motorists choose tires of domestic and Chinese production.
