After completing work at the BelNPP, Rosatom intends to continue working with Belarus at the highest level, and the state corporation has something to offer Minsk.
The Russian state corporation has invaluable experience and technology, and partners from the Union State also have a lot of both. By joining forces, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus can make a major technological breakthrough.
Alexey Likhachev, General Director of Rosatom, personally voiced his proposals to the President of the allied republic, Alexander Lukashenko. The conversation took place during the acceptance of the BelNPP, which was built by Rosatom, and is now taking it for warranty service.
According to Likhachev, Rosatom can help create the following in Belarus:
- gigafactory.The production of lithium-ion batteries already exists in Russia, as well as key electronic components for electric transport. Russian batteries are already being supplied to some Belarusian industries, but full localization in the Republic of Belarus is proposed;
- nuclear medicine center;
- additive technology center;
- alliances in the field of wind energy;
- projects for working with industrial waste.
There are prospects for developing cooperation in other areas, including industry and digital technologies. Likhachev noted that together with the Belarusian side, it is planned to prepare a draft intergovernmental memorandum and programs in these areas.
