Russia is putting pressure on India regarding the supply of fifth-generation Su-57E fighters, which could become an alternative to the French Dassault Rafale. Moscow promises the transfer of technologies for the aircraft, full access to the source code, and integration of Indian weapons systems. This is reported by IDRW.
According to IDRW sources, Russian officials urged India to increase the volume of purchases. If the supply of 36-54 aircraft was previously discussed, now it is proposed to supply 126-144 Su-57E.
Russia is acting aggressively to capture a large share of the Indian defense market. In addition, the Indian Air Force must solve the problem of a shortage of modern fighters.
India planned to purchase 114 fighters under the Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft program. The French manufacturer Dassault Aviation offered to organize the assembly of Rafale with a localization level of up to 60%.
But Russia with the Su-57E relied on economic efficiency. The management of UAC believes that it is possible to launch production at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) plant in Nashik and use the infrastructure on which the Su-30MKI was produced.
Sources in the Russian Federation reported that the Su-57E is not only technically superior to the Rafale, but will also dominate in the air. The Russian fighter can circle around the French aircraft, and its radar will not detect the enemy.
Russia, as expected, could provide deliveries of 20-30 Su-57Es within 3-4 years, and by the early 2030s deploy local production of another 60-70 units. The cost of one fighter can be 50-80 million dollars, which is much cheaper than Rafale (100-120 million dollars).
