The new Russian medium-range aircraft MC-21-310 is one step away from the start of commercial operation. The project is undergoing certification and will soon enter Russian airlines.
Many aviation enthusiasts are interested to know exactly how the promising domestic aircraft will surpass its direct competitors — Boeing and Airbus. For example, a lot of work has been done on artificial and natural lighting on the MC-21.
No Ear Congestion
The portholes were made almost 30% larger compared to the A320, noted Nikita Shapiro, Head of the Preliminary Design Department of the Engineering Center of PJSC Yakovlev (part of Rostec's UAC). Passengers will be spared from ear congestion and headaches during takeoff.
On the MC-21, we made the pressure higher, like on long-haul, wide-body liners, which required the installation of appropriate life support systems. The pressure inside the MC-21 cabin corresponds to an altitude of 1800 m. This means that passengers will better tolerate takeoffs, landings and long stays in the air.
Depending on the flight level, the altitude in the cabin on Boeing and Airbus aircraft varies from 2200-2400 meters. However, the lower the altitude, the more comfortable passengers will feel throughout the flight.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the MC-21 aircraft flew for the first time to test navigation systems as a regular aircraft.
