Two Su-30MKI fighters of the Indian Air Force defended critical facilities during a raid by Pakistani F-16s armed with AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles. The incident occurred on February 27, 2019. This was stated by Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh.
As Singh explained, the Pakistani Air Force used American-made fighters. In response, Indian pilots scrambled two Russian-made aircraft to intercept the enemy.
Pakistani pilots fired AIM-120C AMRAAM missiles (air-to-air guided missiles with a flight range of over 100 km) at the Su-30MKI.
However, the Su-30MKI, known for its super-maneuverability and advanced electronic warfare systems, evaded the approaching missiles. The "Dry ones" did their job, they stood their ground.
Singh emphasized that the AIM-120C AMRAAM did not hit the targets. Their wreckage was later found on Indian territory.
