Creating a drone studies classroom for a group of 10 students will cost a school approximately 1.5–1.9 million rubles. This estimate was provided to TASS by Sergey Gushchin, Director of the Center for Unmanned Systems at St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design.
According to him, this amount includes the full outfitting of the room, including computer equipment and furniture. The main part of the expenses is related to workstations for simulator flights: before practical lessons, students practice control skills on simulators, so each station is equipped with a computer with a monitor of sufficient performance or a laptop. Ten such workstations will cost about 700–800 thousand rubles.
For practice, 10 small training FPV drones for indoor flights are needed — about 150 thousand rubles. Video headsets will cost 200–330 thousand rubles.
There is no separate academic subject "Drone Studies" in federal general education programs, but schools can introduce it independently. There is also no single mandatory textbook yet: the list includes UAV textbooks for 8-9th and 10-11th grades.
