The ODC Center for Additive Technologies manufactured a batch of muzzle devices for small arms. The parts were printed using selective laser melting from domestic powdered titanium alloy.
The part was made monolithic, without assembly, with complex internal geometry — shaped partitions and inclined channels. Such a profile is difficult to obtain using conventional multi-stage methods.
CAT specialists printed the entire batch of blanks on one working platform in almost one day.
The mass of one product does not exceed 300 g. Minimal post-processing is required after printing. The design was specifically developed for the capabilities of additive manufacturing to avoid spending time on complex processing of internal channels and cavities.
Recall that ODC CAT produces alloys, which are also used in the latest aircraft engines — PD-8, PD-14, and especially PD-35. The latter has already received more than 2.3 thousand parts manufactured using additive technologies.
