The only flying An-2 in South Africa, known as Little Annie, is planned for modernization in 2027. The aircraft, with registration ZU-BEW, is expected to receive a modern turboprop power plant as part of the TVS-2MS project, PMI Aero announced.
It should be noted that the TVS-2MS retains the design of the Soviet An-2, but instead of the standard engine, it receives an American Honeywell TPE331-12.
The power plant improves the aircraft's flight performance by 15–20%, allows it to switch to aviation kerosene, reduces fuel consumption, and doubles the flight range at full load.
Earlier it became known that the TVS-2MS will also begin to be supplied to Mongolia. It can be stated that the attempt to launch serial production in the Saratov region ended without result.
It should be noted that in Russia, the LMS-901 "Baikal" is being created to replace the An-2, for which demand until 2035 amounted to 100 aircraft. However, the aircraft has not yet entered serial production.
