The Russian Ministry of Transport is trying to negotiate with Vietnam on the transfer of Vietnamese carriers' aircraft to Russian airlines for lease, along with crew and maintenance, i.e., "wet" leasing. This was announced by the head of the Russian Ministry of Transport, Andrey Nikitin.
According to him, the Russian side has sent relevant proposals, which are already being considered.
And, of course, we want to continue to increase air traffic, open new access points for our airlines, and expand cooperation.
It should be noted that Vietnamese airlines predominantly use Airbus and Boeing aircraft. How Western corporations will react to the scheme of transferring aircraft to Russian carriers is unknown.
In the summer of 2025, Russia also tried to obtain aircraft on "wet lease" from Ethiopia, but the deal did not go through then.
