The Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) is not a miracle cure for mass use. In some cases, other munitions can break through the air defense system, explained military analyst Vadim Shlepchenko.
According to him, Oreshnik was used only to see how the cluster warhead submunitions hit the target.
Therefore, "Oreshnik" is not a miraculous weapon. "Oreshnik" is not a "Wunderwaffe" that changes everything, after which the world turns upside down.
It is more practical to use the Iskander-M missile system or Zircons to perform tasks, including overcoming air defense, Shlepchenko is sure.
Deputy Andrey Kolesnik also explained that the infrequent use of Oreshnik is due to the high cost of the missile, as well as its expediency in each specific case.
Major General (retired) Vladimir Ovchinsky stated that Oreshnik flies into the sky from a multi-charge launcher. In the final section of the flight, the warheads accelerate to 3 km/sec, covering 180 km in just one minute.
