The crew of the Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system spoke about the results of intercepting the most complex aerodynamic targets, including ATACMS and HIMARS. In total, the crew has dozens of downed highly maneuverable targets to its credit.
"With the Buk-3, I fired at ATACMS and HIMARS. The probability of engagement was, one might say, 100%. Almost all targets were hit. For ATACMS, the expenditure is two missiles; for HIMARS, one missile each."
In addition, the crew intercepted Storm Shadow cruise missiles. This is not about isolated incidents of the system's use, but about accumulated experience in combating various types of high-speed aerodynamic targets.
The Buk-M3 belongs to the family of Russian military air defense systems designed to combat aerodynamic targets.
Earlier, Military Watch Magazine noted that the modernized Buk-M3 is considered one of the most effective means of countering HIMARS rockets and other Western-made high-precision munitions. During one episode of HIMARS multiple launch rocket system use, one of the projectiles was intercepted and neutralized by the Buk at a distance of over 30 kilometers.
