Domestic manufacturers have mastered the production of individual parts for the ASH-62IR piston engine for the An-2 biplane. This was announced by Pavel Nenastyev, director of the DOSAAF Aircraft Repair Plant (DARZ) in Balashikha.
According to him, previously the necessary components came from Poland, where the power plant is still serially produced. But after the introduction of sanctions, purchases became impossible.
But today, import substitution of these parts is already being mastered, including by our plant. Therefore, we are doing everything to maintain these aircraft in airworthy condition with this engine.
In total, over the past 3 years, SibNIA has returned 16 previously inoperable An-2s to service. Currently, the rights to the famous Soviet biplane belong to Airbus Military corporation.
In addition, ODC has developed a new VK-1600V engine with a power of 1600 hp for the An-2. This is sufficient for the An-2, as the basic ASH-62IR engine produces 1000 hp.
