MC-21 and Tu-214 will do without new factories: Ministry of Industry and Trade reveals plans for prototype aircraft

Existing aircraft manufacturing enterprises, according to the ministry, currently have sufficient reserves

This was announced by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Gennady Abramenkov on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.

According to him, a separate production facility for prototype aircraft is not currently required, as the existing infrastructure allows for the necessary tasks to be performed.

This involves not only preserving current production sites but also re-equipping them for various aviation programs. A prime example is the Kazan Aviation Plant, where the modernization of Tu-214 production is underway. Earlier, Abramenkov suggested that after the re-equipment of KAZ facilities, they could also be used for the production of other types of aircraft, including the MC-21.
